~Welcome!~

To our visitors, we extend a warm and friendly welcome to Community Baptist Church.

To all who mourn and need comfort, to all who are weary and need rest, to all who are lonely and want friendship, to all who are tired and want victory, to all who sin and need a Savior, to “whosoever will”, this church opens wide its doors and in the name of Jesus Christ says, “Welcome.” We pray you will be blessed by being with us today. If we can ever be of service to you, be sure to let us know. We invite you to come back and visit us.

A Message from our Pastor

Dear Church Members, Friends & Visitors,

On February 22nd America will celebrate the birth date of someone who is known as the father of our country, George Washington. I hope young people still study about him early in their lives. According to Newsweek, 14 percent of all American preschoolers think that George Washington is still sitting in the Oval Office. He was our first president and there are many myths that are associated with him. He couldn’t lie as he told his father he chopped down the cherry tree. I read this: There was once a country boy who hated using the outhouse because it was hot in the summer and freezing in the winter… plus it stank all the time. The outhouse was situated on the bank of a creek and the boy determined that one day he would push that outhouse into the creek. So one day after a spring rain the creek was swollen so the little boy decided today was the day to push the outhouse into the creek. He got a large stick and started pushing. Finally, the outhouse toppled into the creek and floated away. That night his dad told him they were going to the woodshed after supper. Knowing this meant a spanking, the little boy asked why. The dad replies, “Someone pushed the outhouse into the creek today. It was you, wasn’t it, son?” The boy answered yes. Then he thought a moment and said, “Dad, I read in school today that George Washington chopped down a cherry tree and didn’t get into trouble because he told the truth.” The dad replies, “Well, son, George Washington’s father wasn’t in that cherry tree.”  Of course we all know that he had wooden teeth. Here are some other facts about Washington: * He was the only founding father to free his slaves, * He was the only President who did not live in Washington, D.C., * His 2nd inaugural address was the shortest ever delivered – 135 words, * As a farmer, he grew marijuana on his farm and promoted it’s growth. (In the 1790’s, the crop was grown mainly for its industrial value as hemp and for soil stabilization. It was many years later that the recreational and illegal use of marijuana became popular, * As a farmer, he is credited with introducing the mule to America, * Though baptized as an Episcopalian as a baby, he later was baptized by John Gano, a Baptist preacher, * He died December 14, 1799.

See you in Sunday school. Shake hands. Welcome visitors.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF

COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH

By Profession of Faith and Baptism

If you will receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and follow Him in baptism by immersion, that welcomes you into our fellowship.

By Letter

If you are a member of a church and God leads you here, we will be pleased to welcome you into our church family. We will happily take care of appropriate details for transferring you membership. Please see Pastor Reeves.

By Statement

In the event church membership records are not available for transfer of membership, or if you would just prefer it, we will accept you upon you statement of faith. You may express you desire to fulfill any of the above by first speaking to Pastor Reeves and then presenting yourself during the invitation at the close of each worship service. Of course, any decision assumes you commitment to being faithful in prayer and participation in our Lord's work at Community Baptist Church.
